Ford Bronco Hood Insulation Pad

I just added a hood insulation pad to the bottom side of my Bronco’s hood.  Was that necessary?  Not really, but it quiets some of the engine noise.  It also adds some beauty to the back side of the hood.  That by itself is worth it to me.

For the longest time, car makers installed a hood pad on all of their vehicles.  It is a hidden feature that adds value, and a touch of luxury, to your vehicle.  Sadly, things like this are the first to go when those same manufacturers start cutting costs.

Aftermarket Hood Insulation Pads

For the car enthusiasts in the crowd, the aftermarket offers many options to bring back the perception of quality to your vehicle.  In my case, both Ford and the aftermarket have hood insulation pads available for purchase.

In fact, I found a reasonably priced hood pad on Amazon for $80.  It is sold through IAG Off-Road as well for the same price.  I chose Amazon for the free shipping.

Easy Hood Insulation Pad Installation

Installation of the hood pad was very easy.  I think it took longer to unpackage the part than it did to install it.

The hood pad is shipped folded, but pops into shape with ease.  The pad is custom fit to cover the unfinished part of the hood.  Mounting holes are already punched into the hood, so the pad attaches with the plastic push pins provided.  Taking my time, it took less than 10 minutes to install.

Final Thoughts

Other than looking better, the hood pad does cut down on some of the engine noise.  It does not silence the noise, but this was mostly an appearance mod for me.  On that count, this is a win.

Like the installation of the gas hood lift kit I installed last month, this is a modification that will only be appreciated if you open the hood.  Whether you are performing maintenance or merely checking your oil level, you will feel better with both of these under hood add-ons.  I know that I do!
